I hereby issue the City of Midway’s year ended December 31, 2007 audit. Responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the report rests with the City’s management. We believe the data presented is accurate in all material aspects: that it is presented in a manner designed to fairly set forth the financial position of the City of Midway. In order to provide a reasonable basis for making these representations, management of the City has established a comprehensive internal control framework that is designed to protect the government’s assets from loss, theft, or misuse and to compile reasonable assurance that financial statements will be free of material misstatement.
The state law requires annual audits of the accounting records by independent certified public accountants selected by the City Council. This requirement has been met, and the auditor’s opinion is included in this report. The goal of the independent audit is to provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free of material misstatement. Holland Henry & Bromley, LLP a firm of licensed certified public accountants has audited the City’s financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2007
I City of Midway Finance Department is responsible for the financial operations of the City of Midway, and serves as a financial advisor to the Administration, City Council.
The City of Midway has operated under the council-mayor form of government. Policy making and legislative authority are vested in a government consisting of mayor and four council members.
I wish to express gratitude and appreciation to the members of staff of the City of Midway for their assistance and support in preparation of this report as well as handling the daily operations.
